Assistant Professor of Creative Writing

Dr. Samantha Edmonds is an Assistant Professor in the creative writing program at Berry College, where she teaches intermediate and advanced fiction, introduction to creative writing, and in the first-year writing program. She primarily specializes in fiction, especially speculative writing, including fantasy and science fiction. Her other teaching and research interests include the short story, linked story collections, speculative nonfiction, the literary marketplace, publishing, and more.
She is the author of the story collection A Preponderance of Starry Beings (Triquarterly Books, 2025), as well as the chapbook The Space Poet (Split/Lip Press, 2020). Her fiction has appeared in Best Small Fictions 2020, Ninth Letter, Mississippi Review, Black Warrior Review, Michigan Quarterly Review, Indiana Review, and Joyland, among others. Her nonfiction has been published in The New York Times, Creative Nonfiction, Fourth Genre, McSweeney's Internet Tendency, The Rumpus, Literary Hub, Ploughshares, VICE, Bustle, and more. Her work has been nominated for Best American Essays, Best Small Fictions, and twice for the Pushcart Prize.
