Associate Professor of Geology Tamie Jovanelly was chosen for an American Geophysical Union Fellowship Program called Voices of Science. The program goal is to address the critical need for communicating the value and impact of Earth Science to key decision makers, journalists, and public audiences. Through this elite fellowship, Dr. Jovanelly has had the opportunity to use her skillsets for a variety of science education and outreach outlets.
This includes (but is not limited to) the publication of science related opinion-editorials, skype-a-scientist interviews, a feature in a STEM Magazine called “SMORE”, a feature in Science-A-Thon whereby highlighting her day as a scientist, talks to numerous Science Cafes and Rotary Clubs throughout the country, a feature on “You don’t look like a scientist” segment hosted by the Association of Environmental and Engineering Geologists.
