Professor's Album Earns Global Award

The album by Associate Music Professor Kris Carlisle, "The Silence Between", has been awarded a silver medal by the Global Music Awards.

The Global Music Awards is a well-known international music competition which celebrates independent musicians and is widely recognized by industry insiders as giving legitimacy to highly talented artists.

The album is a collection of contemporary 'programmatic' compositions for piano. Programmatic pieces are those that tell a story or invoke a feeling or memory. The pieces on the album range from Greg Simon's violent, visceral "Blood on the Curb" reflecting the violence seen in modern media; to Chris Ferebee's haunting "Haints in the Pines", reminiscent of the southern tradition of 'haints' or ghosts as they roam the swampland of the south.

The album is promoted and distributed by 4Tay Records with air play on stations throughout the US, Canada, and Europe.
