The public is invited to a screening of the new documentary “Alternate Route” based on the national Walk with a Doc organization which encourages patients to take walks with their physician.
The film will be shown at 6 p.m. Monday (Oct. 24) in the Berry College McAllister Auditorium.
“Alternate Route” is inspired by the Walk with a Doc organization, founded by Dr. David Sabgir. The documentary allows a glimpse into what the world is like when a person has the ability to ask a doctor about health advice on a weekly basis. Walk with a Doc, which started in Columbus, Ohio, is an organization that fosters relationships between patients and doctors outside of a clinical setting. At Walk with a Doc events, a doctor gives a brief presentation on a health topic and then leads participants on a walk at their own pace.
The documentary was produced by Berry Assistant Professor of Communication Kimberly Field-Springer and Technology Specialist Steven Hames, who also served as editor. More info at http://walkwithadoc.org/alternative-routes/
A discussion will follow the film screening. The event is free and open to the public.
