A recent Berry College graduate has developed a mobile application that helps students find study partners called “StudyHubb.”
The idea came to Connor Garrett when he tried to balance a full load of courses, soccer and work with a social life. It was then that he began to develop the idea to consolidate studying and socializing. Garrett hopes that the app will let students find individuals to study with by using a swipe feature and allow students to create study groups with like-minded peers and function like an academic social network.
“I think this is going to help the student’s academic performance,” Garrett said. “When people are social it gives them an incentive to study more frequently.”

The app’s production has been completely self-funded by the developers and is tentatively set to launch in early in the spring of 2017.
Garrett, who is from Marietta, Ga. and now lives in California, graduated from Berry in December 2015 with a bachelor’s degree in English. The app, StudyHubb was created with Alex Chung and Richard Fendler. Garrett and Fendler work for ZipRecruiter and Chung works at Lead Forensics. Berry alumnus Jawad Mazhir, who graduated in 2013, was instrumental in the design work.
