Berry College alum Karen Hersey has earned the Georgia Council of Teachers of Mathematics 2016 Award for Excellence.
The award is given to teachers in Georgia who have strong content foundations in mathematics appropriate for their teaching level, show evidence of growth in the teaching of mathematics and show evidence of professional involvement in both the Georgia and National Councils of Teachers of Mathematics.
Hersey earned her masters of education degree in middle grades math and science in 2005 and a bachelor’s degree in sociology and psychology in 1998. She has a specialist degree in education from the University of West Georgia. She teaches at Nicholson Elementary in Cobb County.
