For the third year in a row, Berry College has earned the 2015 Tree Campus USA recognition.
“Students are eager to volunteer in their communities and become better stewards of the environment,” said Matt Harris, chief executive of the Arbor Day Foundation. “Participating in Tree Campus USA sets a fine example for other colleges and universities, while helping to create a healthier planet for us all.”
Tree Campus USA is a national program launched by the Arbor Day Foundation and Toyota that honors colleges and universities around the world for promoting, establishing and engaging students and staff in the spirit of conservation to sustaining healthy community forests.
Berry College is recognized for meeting the five core standards for sustainable campus forestry; establishment of a tree advisory committee, evidence of a campus tree-care plan, dedicated annual expenditures for its campus tree program, an Arbor Day observance and the sponsorship of student service-learning projects. Arbor Day Foundation officials congratulated Berry College on its diligence in improving the environment and quality of life on campus contributes to a healthier, more sustainable world.
