Berry College welcomes Cynthia Court as the new Vice President of Advancement.
Court will be responsible for fundraising, alumni relations and philanthropic communications at Berry.
“It has been an honor to work with the senior leadership team at Berry College over the past year and to learn and see first-hand some of the distinctive ways that this institution prepares every student for life,” Court said. “I began my own academic journey committed to changing lives through education. My success in development has come from my ability to listen and establish deep relationships.”
Court will officially begin in January 2018.
“This summer, we asked Cyndi to provide an analysis of the college’s needs in the advancement area in the years ahead as we look beyond the current LifeReady Campaign. In the course of that evaluation, it became clear to us that Cyndi would be an ideal person for our position,” said Berry President Stephen Briggs.
Court, originally from Toronto, Canada, is currently managing director/non-profit practice leader for Harvard Group International, an executive search firm based in Atlanta. She established the first non-profit practice for Harvard Group International and secured well over $1 million in new business.
From 2002-2014, she served as chief marketing and development officer for two of the largest and most well-known non-profit brands in the United States and around the world, Boys & Girls Clubs of America and Special Olympics International. In these positions she led tremendous growth in revenue from corporations, foundations and individuals as well as launching new development programs designed to diversify and strengthen revenue from the private sector. She led Boys & Girls Clubs of America’s first comprehensive campaign which exceed the $200 million goal by $28 million. In addition, she was responsible for leading a successful rebranding of both organizations and led their marketing and communications functions.
Court has a bachelor’s degree in English and history and bachelor’s degree in education from York University in Toronto.
Berry Vice President for Advancement Bettyann O’Neill is retiring at the end of this year. O’Neill came to Berry in 1994 as assistant dean in the Campbell School of Business. She served as vice president from 1999 to 2017.
