The Chieftains Museum is hosting the Fifth Annual Floyd County Seed Swap from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 10.
This event is co-sponsored by the Berry College Environmental Studies Program, Keep Rome Floyd Beautiful, Action Ministries Rome, the Rome Federated Garden Club and Rome Master Gardeners. The Seed Swap was started as a way to support the production of diverse varieties for posterity, food security, beauty and sustainable landscape management. Attendees learn about the production and protection of heirloom seeds and plant varieties, many of which are at risk of being lost.
The program will begin with a presentation by Associate Professor Brian Campbell, director of the Berry College Environmental Studies Program, on how to properly save seeds. Guests are encouraged to bring seeds, cuttings, bulbs and plants to share or trade.
Admission to the museum is free for the day. For more information, contact the Chieftains Museum at 706-291-9494 or chmuseum@bellsouth.net and visit https://chieftainsmuseum.org/events/seed-swap/
