An award winning poet will read and discuss his work at 7:30 p.m. Thursday (Sept. 19) in the McAllister Hall Auditorium at Berry College.
Nick Norwood has published work in the Paris Review, The Wallace Stevens Journal, The Oxford American, the PBS NewsHour site Art Beat and NPR’s Writer Almanac with Garrison Keillor to name a few.
“Eagle & Phenix,” his most recent book, draws on personal reflections and art. “Gravel and Hawk” is a collection that is inspired by family and personal experiences. He has also published several essays, reviews, book chapters and critical studies of poetry.
Norwood has earned the Pushcart Prize, the Tennessee Williams Scholarship and a Walter E. Dakin Fellowship from the Sewanee Writer’s. He has twice been a finalist for the Vassar Miller Prize and once a semifinalist for the Verse Prize and the Nation Prize. Norwood is a professor of creative writing at Columbus State University and director of the Carson McCullers Center for Writers and Musicians.
