The Berry College Theatre Company recently performed “Come Back to the Five and Dime, Jimmy Dean, Jimmy Dean.”
In their production, directed by visiting assistant professor Jennifer Bradford, Berry students played members of James Dean’s most devout fan club who reunite 20 years after his death.
Paige Curtis, a freshman English and secondary education major, played Mona, a 17-year-old girl from McCarthy, Texas.
“I’m enthralled every night by the new discoveries that I get to witness onstage and the beautifully crafted relationships that develop through the show,” Curtis said.
The play was written in 1976 and had a short Broadway run in 1980, giving pop singer Cher her first major role on stage. The play was adapted to film in 1982, starring Cher, Sandy Dennis and Kathy Bates.
