Berry welcomes high school students to choir festival Thursday, Oct. 19
Berry College will host the second annual High School Choir Festival for singers from across Georgia at 4 p.m. Thursday (Oct. 19) in the Ford Dining Hall.
Students will participate in choral rehearsals and workshops with Berry students and music faculty. At the conclusion of the festival, students will present a concert of choral works, allowing them to showcase their talent alongside Berry Singers and choral groups.
"Our goal is to further choral singing in the region,” said Paul Neal, Berry College director of choral activities. “We want to support the local high school choirs with their programs. This festival allows their students to see what is possible when singers from different groups come together and really focus their talent and energy. It’s amazing what these students can accomplish in one day.”

The Gray Havens coming to Berry College as a part of the Worship Concert Series
The Berry College Worship Concert Series presents The Gray Havens - a husband and wife music duo based out of Nashville, Tenn., on Oct. 29.The band will perform in the College Chapel. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and the show begins at 7 p.m. with opening act Drakeford. This event is open to the public and tickets are $15 for individuals. For a flat rate of $20 per group, local youth groups may bring as many students as they like.
The Gray Havens is Dave and Licia Radford, who have been touring since the release of their third album, “Ghost of a King.” The couple have written music and performed since 2013 and have since toured nationwide. The couple has “a knack for creating a listening experience similar to paging through your favorite book, with richly textured compositions and multi-layered lyrics,” to quote their website. Berry College’s Office of the Chaplain has been running the Worship Concert Series for multiple years, bringing in artists like Passion, Rend Collective, and John Mark McMillan.

Notes of AutumnThe Berry College Choirs’ Fall Concert will be at 3 p.m. Oct. 29 at First Baptist Church in Rome.
The concert will feature an afternoon of choral music under the direction Paul Neal, Berry College director of choral activities, and Stefanie Cash, assistant professor of music. Music will be performed by the newly-formed Berry Men’s and Women’s Choirs as well as the Berry Singers.
The concert is free and open to the public.

State inspired exhibit to open Nov. 1
Berry College has been chosen as one of five venues from around the state to host the exhibit, “Inspired Georgia” Nov. 1-16 in the Moon Gallery.
This traveling exhibition of photography created by the Georgia Council of the Arts features works by 40 different photographers from all over the state. These unique images showcase the diversity of Georgia’s citizens, its pictorial beauty, a glimpse into its rituals, the mystery of the everyday and the power of its institutions.
“Inspired Georgia” is accompanied by a catalog that displays each of the photographs exhibited alongside independently sourced poems from Georgia writers, including Berry’s poet, Dana Professor of English Sandra Meek.
The exhibit is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday and is free and open to the public. Participants in the project will be on hand at the opening reception at 5 p.m. on Nov. 6 to discuss their work with the public.
