Award-winning author to read at Berry College
Award-winning author Jennifer DuBois will give a fiction reading at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday (Sept. 20) in Berry College’s McAllister Hall.
DuBois is the recipient of a Whiting Writer’s Award and a National Book Foundation “5 Under 35” Award. Her debut novel, “A Partial History of Lost Causes”, was the winner of the California Book Award for First Fiction, the Northern California Book Award for Fiction and was a finalist for the PEN/Hemingway Award for Debut Fiction. Her second novel, “Cartwheel”, was the winner of the Housatonic Book Award fiction and was a finalist for the New York Public Library’s Young Lions Award.
The reading is part of the David James Poissant Creative Prose Reading Series and is free and open to the public.

Accomplished musical duo to perform at Berry College
Composer David Harned Johnson and pianist Kaju Lee will perform as a duo at 7:30 p.m. Thursday (Sept. 21) in the Berry College Ford Auditorium.
A composer, violinist and teacher at Georgia College and State University, Johnson has degrees from the Thornton School of Music at the University of Southern California, Yale University and Indiana University. Lee has performed extensively as a collaborative partner in Australia, Austria, Canada, The Philippines, South Africa, South Korea and the United States.
With her Doctor of Musical Arts degree in collaborative piano at the University of Colorado Boulder, Lee also has degrees from the Manhattan School of Music and McGill University in Montreal.
This event is free and open to the public.

Berry Voices a capella group to perform American classics
The Berry Voices will perform “The American Songbook” at 3 p.m. Sept. 24, in the Berry College Ford Auditorium.
Celebrating composers and performers of popular American songs, “The American Songbook” gives Berry’s brightest vocal talents the chance to shine in styles ranging from cabaret to Broadway. The Berry Voices will be joined by Barbara Ferris, Miss Berry 1964, in a musical trip to the days of Sinatra and Crosby.
This event is free and open to the public.

Imagination (Un)Bound at the Moon Gallery
The Berry College Moon Gallery presents “Imagination (Un)Bound” from Sept. 25 to Oct. 26.
The exhibition features works by artists who have strong investment in the process of creating their work. Their sketches or other types of preparatory work will be displayed alongside the “final form,” or the more fully resolved piece they reference. (Un)Bound is intended to provide a glimpse into the creative process and procedures by artists, from different generations and experiences, working with a range of media and imagery.
Participating artists are Brian Barr, Andy Cunningham, Al Denyer, Katie Hargrave, Travis Head, Clive King, Ross McClain, Jeff Morton, Ty Smith, Chuck Tomlins and Christina Renfer Vogel. The gallery is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. from Monday to Friday. The exhibit is free and open to the public.

Pulitzer Prize-winning play to open Berry College’s new theatre
Berry College Theatre Company presents, “Crimes of the Heart” at 7:30 p.m. Sept. 28 – Sept. 30 and Oct. 5 – 7, as well as at 2 p.m. on Oct. 1 and 8 in the new theatre at Blackstone Hall.
In this Pulitzer Prize-winning and Tony nominated tragicomedy, three sisters, Meg, Babe and Lenny, reconnect at their grandfather’s Mississippi home after Babe shoots her abusive husband. Cooped up in the old house, each sister is forced to deal with the consequences of their personal “crimes of the heart.""
Ticket prices are $10 for adults and $7 for senior citizens.
