The Berry College Moon Gallery presents the show “Journals and Reading Lists” by Travis Head Monday, Jan. 8 through Feb. 8.
The artist talk and reception will be at 5 p.m. Jan. 8. The gallery is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. from Monday to Friday. The exhibit is free and open to the public.
The solo exhibit is autobiographical and uses drawing that is mediated by technology and entertainment. Head blends his personality into the narrative and digital conventions of video games in a bound array of journals covering a period of months or years. His reading lists function as journals but not in the sequential pages of a book but as accumulations of experiences on a single page such as his Quilt Squares project.
Head is the recipient of numerous artist residencies and a recent fellowship from the Virginia Museum of Fine Art. His work has been shown across the Southeast including at the University of Kentucky, Artspace in Raleigh, N.C. and the University of Alabama at Huntsville.
