The Annual Student Honors Show opening April 23 will feature pieces made in the Berry College Art Program studio art courses from the fall and spring semesters.
The courses include design, drawing, painting, print media, ceramics and sculpture, and range from introductory to advanced levels.
Pinky Bass, this year’s juror, will speak about her inspirations and will announce the award winners at the opening ceremony at 11 a.m. on April 24 in the Moon Gallery.
Bass’ work has been a part of many collections including the Philadelphia Museum of Art, Birmingham Museum of Art and the High Museum in Atlanta. She is also a frequent workshop leader at Penland School of Crafts and has had her work featured in a range of publications including “Aperture,” “The Polaroid Book” and “The Book of Alternative Processes.”
The student’s artwork will be on display 9 a.m.to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday beginning April 23 in the Moon Gallery.
Beginning April 30, senior Lauren Tutt of Rome, Ga., will exhibit artwork that encapsulates her thesis as part of the Berry College Art Department’s Senior Thesis Exhibition experience.
As a capstone project for the studio art concentration, students formulate their own research agenda in the creation of a body of work for public display. Tutt is an art major with a psychology minor. She focuses on landscape painting and the representation of serenity in her project. Her inspiration derived from her position as a garden assistant at Oak Hill.
Her work will be displayed from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday from April 30-May 4 in the Moon Gallery and is free and open to the public.
