The Berry College Theatre Company will present “Rumors” written by Neil Simon on Oct. 3-7 at Sisters Theatre.
Under the direction of Assistant Professor of Theatre Anna Filippo and Berry alumnus and Broadway set designer Carl Tallent, the company will bring to life what has been called one of Simon’s greatest comedies. Four couples show up to celebrate the mayor’s anniversary, only to find that he has accidentally shot himself in the ear and his wife is nowhere to be found. Blame, lies and rumors fly as each of the guests’ attempts to conceal what they know about the situation and speculate how it happened in the first place.
The scenery for the production was designed by Tallent, a 2001 Berry graduate with a Bachelor of Arts degree in theatre. After graduation, Tallent participated in a year-long scenic painting internship at The Juilliard School, earned a Master of Fine Arts in set design from the University of Tennessee and worked as an interior designer. Some of Tallent’s other career highlights include prop work on Broadway as well as being an assistant designer and painter at a piano bar in Paris. Currently, he works as a window dresser at Bergdorf Goodman while also freelancing as a set designer, painter and educator.
Shows start at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday- Saturday and a 2 p.m. performance on Sunday. General admission is $12, senior citizens are $8 and students are $6. Tickets can be purchased online at www.berry.edu/bctc-tickets or by calling 706.236.2263.
