An award-winning poet known for his witty satires and dark narratives will perform readings from his collection of poems and essays at 7:30 p.m. (Thursday) Nov. 7 in the College Chapel at Berry College.
Ryan Wilson will also discuss his writing process and techniques. Other authors are quick to notice his out-of-the-box thinking within traditional forms of writing, as demonstrated in pieces such as “Authority,” “L’Estraneo” and “The Stranger World.” His writing is applauded by the likes of poetry critics Mark Jarman and Robert Pinsky, and he has won over 10 distinguished awards for his work.
Wilson’s poems, translations and criticism have been in collections such as the Hopkins Review, Iron Horse Literary Review, First Things, the Yale Review and the Sewanee Review.He has a B.A. in English from the University of Georgia, an M.F.A. in poetry from the Johns Hopkins University, and an M.F.A. in poetry from Boston University. He is a doctoral candidate at the Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C and works as the editor of Literary Matters, an online literary journal of the Association of Literary Scholars, Critics and Writers.
