Francesca Maxwell, soprano, and Elena Dorozhkina, piano, recently presented an evening of Russian music at Berry College’s Bell Recital Hall.
The program included “In the silence of the mysterious night” and “To my sorrow I have grown to love” by Russian composer and virtuoso pianist Sergei Rachmaninoff, as well as “The flying chain of clouds” by Russian composer Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov.
Maxwell, a Clayton State University faculty member, studied at the Royal Conservatorium in Brussels where she obtained a B.A. and an M.A. in vocal arts and a diploma in vocal pedagogy. She has a D.M.A in vocal performance from the University of Texas.
Dorozhkina, an Agnes Scott College artist affiliate, specializes in contemporary music, instrumental accompaniment, vocal accompaniment and vocal répétiteur. She has a B.M. in piano performance, collaborative arts and piano pedagogy from Tyumen’s College of Arts (Russia), a B.A. in piano performance, voice performance and choral conducting from The Herzen State Pedagogical University of Russia, an M.M. in piano performance, collaborative arts and piano pedagogy from Saint-Petersburg Rimsky-Korsakov State Conservatory (Russia), an M.M. in piano performance from the University of Northern Iowa and a D.M.A in piano performance from the University of North Texas.
